In today’s stressed economy, I continue to look for fun and good things that are happening in our world.  They happen every day but most are too wrapped up in the most current economic news and the “good” stories do not seem to have reporters racing to report them.   For some reason people seem to be drawn to pain, destruction and devastation.  Did you know that people who watch and/or listen to a large number of news stories a day tend to be moody and much less happy?  I want to know what is going on in the world but not at the expense of my health. The first quarter of 2009 has been challenging to most, and devastating to others.  With bankruptcies and foreclosures being so high these days I thought it a bit amusing to read about other businesses that are actually doing well during this economy.  According to local reports, Vodka sales are up approximately 12% over last year.  Video game sales are still going strong.  People are spending more time at home and less time going out for entertainment.

Companies run on people; people create processes to make work efficient and profitable. Put yourself in a position to help your company make money (sell more product or service); or reduce cost (lower expense equals higher net profit). All companies expect you to bring in 5x your salary – make sure you far exceed that to keep employed.
